THE BATTLE OF GLORIETA PASS
OR
THE BATTLE FOR THE SANGRE de CHRISTO MOUNTAINS

NEW MEXICO TERRITORY – MARCH 26-28, 1862

Stupidly running out of supplies, Confederate soldiers were defeated by forces led by John P. Slough, enabling the Union Army to gain control of the region near Santa Fe, New Mexico. After the battle, General Grant took a meeting with The Chief of the West, and discussed plans to open an Indian Casino with a Civil War theme.
