THE BATTLE OF ISLAND NUMBER TEN
OR
THE BATTLE FOR THREE MILE ISLAND”
MISSOURI – FEBRUARY 28- APRIL 8, 1862
On the fifth day, sensing the momentum of the battle was going against him, General Robert E. Lee contacted a southern spy in the form of a talking dolphin and passed on a request for reinforcements. Sadly, for General Lee and his army of Northern Virginia, the dolphin was caught by northern fisherman and sold at market in Lake County, Tennessee.
