THE BATTLE OF MANSFIELD
OR
THE ONLY BATTLE IN THE CIVIL WAR WITHOUT SECOND NAME

LOUISIANA – APRIL 8, 1864

In the late afternoon, Confederate forces under Major General Richard Taylor attacked the Union line commanded by General Joseph P. Banks. The Federals held their position until a Tyrannosaurus rex, a bipedal carnivore of the genus coelurosarus came out of nowhere and broke through the Union lines. (And the Rebels laughed all the way home.)
