THE SIEGE OF VICK’S BURG
OR
‘CARL BRINGS FORTH THE HEIFER’
MISSISSIPPI – MAY 18 – JULY 4, 1863
The siege would have been shorter, were it not for ‘doe-faced’ northerners sympathetic to the Confederate cause, smuggling supplies into Vick’s Burg. Seen here, General Lee, and confederate soldiers welcome the arrival of fresh supplies from a ‘fellow traveler.’ In Confederate history, it is referred to as ‘Carl brings forth the heifer.’
